the cradle of Gewürztraminer

Tramin, the German name for Termeno
is home of the aromatic grape from which is born
the fragrant wine with intense straw yellow color
and shades of green and gold: Gewürztraminer.

The Traminer grape is one of the oldest in the world and boasts a noble lineage: in fact, recent studies show that it is the ancestor of some of the oldest grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling and Pinots Blanc, Gris and Noir. At Cantina Tramin, we lovingly grow it in the subzone of Sella, a terroir that’s particularly suited to Gewürztraminer. Strolling among these steep slopes, it is easy to imagine the high cost of cultivation in the vineyard, but nature is benign and has covered these slopes with soil that contains the rare qualities we seek in intense and elegant wines such as the highly regarded Gewürztraminer Nussbaumer.

That's why we chose to match the name of the winery with that of our land: Cantina Tramin. Our name in fact, signifies the firm bond between the symbolic vine of Termeno and its growers and farmers. In addition to Gewürtraminer, we produce many other fine white, red and sweet wines, from traditional grape varieties that thrive in this region. For example, there is Lagrein, the native black grape of Südtirol - Alto Adige. And we cannot forget Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, grapes with unforgettable aromatics and complexity.
